The material is cut by a jet of water under the highest pressure, which bursts out of the calibration hole at nearly three times the speed of sound (810m/s). Depending on the material to be treated, abrasive sand may be added to the water.

Characteristics:
The PRIMUS machine has a gantry design, the axes are driven by YASKAWA servomotors with rack-and-pinion gears. All guides and gears are protected against splash and abrasive dust by special labyrinth seals. The machine can have one or two cutting heads, 3-axis or 5-axis configuration, and can also have a 2-portal configuration.
